The epic Toho Co. kaiju film, Destroy All Monsters (AKA Kaiju So-shingeki), directed by Ishiro Honda,and starring Akira Kubo, Jun Tazaki, Yukiko Kobayashi and Yoshio Tsuchiya, opened in Japan on this date.
This is the second film in the Godzilla series since Godzilla, in which Godzilla actually appears in or attacks Tokyo. In Godzilla Raids Again, Godzilla appears in Osaka; in King Kong vs. Godzilla, he never appears in Tokyo; in Mothra vs. Godzilla, he appears in Nagoya; in Ghidorah: The Three-Headed Monster, he appears in Yokohama; in Invasion of Astro-Monster, he is taken from Lake Myojin by the Xiliens and then appears in the Nagano Prefecture; and in Ebirah, Horror of the Deep, and Son of Godzilla, he appears in two South Pacific islands.
