January 26, 1979 –

Dukes of Hazzard premiered on CBS television with One Armed Bandits – (A shipment of slot machines is hijacked.)

When John Schneider showed up for his audition as Bo Duke, he did so in a dilapidated pick-up truck, with a week’s worth of beard growth and in a white T-shirt and overalls. He had a cigarette pack rolled up in his T-shirt sleeve and was also carrying a can of beer. He was hired on the spot.
