The short-lived the variety show, The Captain and Tennille Show, starring husband and wife team, Toni Tennille and Daryl Dragon, premiered on ABC-TV, on this date.
Despite decent ratings, it ranked #19 among the network’s shows and was canceled by ABC. Other, lower ranking shows on the network were renewed. The cancellation likely was the result of the duo’s desire to get out of their contract to focus on their music career.
