Aretha Franklin was the first woman inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, on this date.
She was inducted by the very high Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards at the ceremony. Other inductees that evening were The Coasters, Eddie Cochran, Bo Diddley, Marvin Gaye, Bill Haley, Clyde McPhatter, Rick Nelson, Roy Orbison, Carl Perkins, Smokey Robinson, and Jackie Wilson.
