Casablanca premiered

One of the classic films of the 40s – Casablanca, starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman, debuted at the Hollywood Theatre in New York City, on this date.

Contrary to common belief, Rick Blaine (Humphrey Bogart) never said “Play it again, Sam” in Casablanca. Bergman did not consider Casablanca to be one of her favorite performances. “I made so many films which were more important, but the only one people ever want to talk about is that one with Bogart.
